Maui Day 4

Right before I went to bed, I stubbed my toe on the bed and it HURT. Of course it was one of the toes I broke in the earthquake. The next day it was swollen and bruised and painful. We decided to cancel the aquarium visit. Marc wanted to go snorkeling at Honolua Bay which sound difficult to access. We drove to Snorkel Bob’s to book the Molokini trip for the next day. We also booked Brit’s surfing lesson with Maui Wave Riders for 1:00 PM that day since my foot was so sore and I needed a sitting activity. The Snorkel Bob’s employee warned us that Honolua Bay was indeed tricky to access and recommended Kapalua Bay which was the next one after Napili Bay.

We went and snorkeled Kapalua for an hour. Farther out, we saw tons of fish including large schools and it was a good site. We got pretty far out and had a tiring swim back in, especially for me since I could only kick with one flipper. We snacked on jerky and trail mix and then went back to the condo to get cleaned up for Brit’s surf lesson in Lahaina. We had Costco sandwiches for lunch. I iced my foot at the condo and found some first aid tape and taped the bad toe to the good one in case it was broken.

We walked out to the beach where Brit’s surf lesson was. It took about two hours. She did great and said after that it was the best part of the trip so far. I was glad we went with the photo package because the photos turned out great and we got a DVD of all the pics.

Next we got shaved ice and B & J filled out postcards and we dropped them off at the post office in Lahaina. Then they saw the big Banyan Tree in Lahaina Town while I sat and rested my foot. Thank goodness there was a cloud cover, it was so hot and muggy. We also stopped at a bakery in town and got a bunch of cookies and different types of bread.

At the condo, we sat at the beach, read, people watched. A turtle was sunning itself on the beach. I made dinner, garlic shrimp on salad and B ate the rest of her pizza. We went out on the lawn in front of the condo and sat on beach chairs long after dark and the cool night air felt good. We went to bed late.
