My husband is a huge movie buff, so we of course had to visit Paramount Ranch when we lived in Ventura County. It is located in Agoura Hills, close to the LA/VC border. Paramount Ranch has been used for filming tv shows and movies including Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Westworld, the Dukes of Hazaard, X-Files, Van Helsing, the Great Outdoors, and hundreds of others. For a short time in the 1950’s, there was a race track here as well. The open space surrounding the ranch is a beautiful area for walking/hiking and there are tons of photo ops.

From the NPS website: “Paramount Ranch offers several miles of easy to moderate scenic hikes through chaparral, riparian, and valley oak savannah plant communities. Equestrians and mountain bikers may access these multi-use trails. Wildlife sightings might include red-tailed hawks, acorn woodpeckers, blue heron and deer.”

*Post updated 11/15/18. Sadly, the Paramount Ranch burned down in the Woolsey fire in November 2018. It is unfortunate that this huge piece of film history has been lost.
