My quilt guild (OCMQG) had a fun challenge to complete a quilt using a pattern that you already own. You know, that stack of patterns that you have somewhere, that you’re going to make SOMEDAY. I went through my pattern stash, and since I’ve been on a paper-piecing kick, decided to make Violet Craft’s Love, Hoppington quilt. I love this quilt because 1. bunnies and 2. the heart and 3. the bunnies are so obviously in love! And I love how the colors from the two bunnies are combined in the heart so you really feel their “bunny love.” I decided to use Timeless Treasures Metallic Spin Dots that I already had in my stash.

This quilt was NOT easy. Getting some of the pieces the right size was difficult at times because the pieces are so strangely shaped and because of where the fold is. In an attempt to save fabric, fabric was wasted because the piece would be too small. It’s also confusing matching up blocks because the whole thing is basically backwards. I also broke a couple of needles sewing the blocks together! But the finished quilt top was sooooo worth the effort! It was BEAUTIFUL!

Because I spent so much time on this quilt top, I had it professionally quilted by Cosmic Quilting in Laguna Hills. I narrowly missed winning  a prize as mine finished in 4th place overall.
