There’s nothing I love more during Christmas time than getting out the ornaments and trimming the tree. My collection of ornaments invokes such a nostalgic reaction. They are a collection of gifts, memories, and reminders of our many travels. Our tree isn’t one of those generic “matchy” Christmas trees that so many people seem to shoot for. Our tree is a hodgepodge of colors and themes with the only common thread being mine and my husband’s history. Here’s a look at some of my favorite ornaments and why they mean so much to me.
Ornaments that we’ve picked up on our travels.
Whenever we travel, we try to find an ornament for the tree. This can be difficult to remember to do when traveling in summer!

Ornaments that reflect my love of cats, birds and wildlife.
Friends and family members often give me ornaments that have to do with animals because they know I am such a huge animal lover. My mom thought the blackbird for my tree was weird, but I love it!

Nostalgic ornaments.
These ornaments include several made by my hubby when he was young. The silver French Horn is an old family ornament that I am amazed has not broken yet.

Here’s how the hodegepodge tree looks when all these precious ornaments are finally on the tree. Carissa kitty loves to lie under the tree during the holidays! It’s her favorite place to nap during the month of December.
